Bad day

It’s never a good day when you can’t get to the money you need to buy a plaster for the finger you just sliced open. I stopped the bleeding eventually, with some remote assistance from home via Skype.

I started my second elective today: revision of all grammar up until this point. I decided pretty quickly that it isn’t for me, so I immediately changed to the song class I had originally chosen. I’ve always found studying songs a great way to learn vocabulary as there’s always meaning in the words you’re studying. My Japanese teacher in UL, Barbara, said that having some sort of emotional tie to a character helps and I definitely agree with that. I believe it also extends to vocabulary.

I got my private lesson timetable today too and I have one class quite late in the day on Friday so I’ve asked to see if this can be changed, as every weekend I intend to be on a train somewhere when that class is scheduled. I’ve purposely chosen no cultural electives as I figure I’ll be travelling so much that I’ll have plenty of exposure to culture without being taught it. It gets dark here just about as early as in Ireland and travelling around the streets at night in towns where it’s impossible to find anything sucks. I hope I can get that class moved back to another day.

Well, I need to write a short speech for tomorrow morning: I drew the short straw in class today so I need to go first.
