Keigo elective starts / First private lesson / Disneyland!

My finger’s doing alright since yesterday… but it still looks pretty dreadful. My usual method for dealing with things like this is to ignore it entirely until it’s fixed, so I’m not using my left thumb for anything (which is quite hard but you get used to positioning objects so that the place where most dexterity is required is available to your good hand) and keeping it covered up until it starts smelling bad.

Today was the first day of my keigo (polite Japanese) elective class. The teacher, Yamada-sensei, is ridiculously energetic and literally bounces around the classroom. She’s great though: she’s a good teacher as well as good fun which is always a great combination. I’m looking forward to the next class.

My private lessons started today too and I have Horii-sensei for that. Marina, a girl in my class with a year’s more experience in Yamasa than me, said that Horii-sensei is the best teacher for private lessons and she pushed really hard this semester to be able to have her as her teacher. She was very good and we have a plan for the next while. We’re going to go through Minna No Nihongo 2 (the textbook I got 5 chapters into and stopped and everyone else has studied properly) and fill in all the gaps in my knowledge first, which is the most important thing. There are so many things which I can understand and even use, such as the passive voice, but that I’ve never actually studied properly; most grammar points I’ve just picked up from friends, the internet, my dictionary, and where-ever else I can get information from.

I was talking to a friend in Tokyo last night, Yukine, and we’re going to go to Disneyland this weekend! I’ve been to EuroDisney but this is my first Japanese Disney experience. There’s a Western-land where westerners like myself can go to a shootin’ gallery or go on a raft just like Tom Sawyer! Yee-haw!

    Yay Disneyland!

I knew you’d be happy Kev. At least you know some of us are serious about it.

I remember people would always bring up Disneyland when I was in Japan and often ask me would I like to go. Unfortunately I had the awkward position of having to explain my hatred for the west, and especially American “Culture” to them every time. But I guess if it floats your boat I can sort of forgive you. Well no I can’t, but enjoy yoursef anyway.

Don’t pretend like you wouldn’t love Westernland.

It’s nothing compared to 花火大会 in a 浴衣!

  6. ダニエル氏 Says:

Agreed. I want to buy a 浴衣 like the ones in さくらホテル for my アパート.
