I got up early on Saturday morning, 5.45am I believe, and got on a train about 7am to arrive in Tokyo about 10am. It took half an hour to get to the other side of the Yamanote Line (I took the Rapid Chuo Line) to Shinjuku. I met Yukine at 10.50am and she told me that my clothes were actually no problem for the Hilton even. Either way, we went into a few shops around Shinjuku’s South Entrance: Zara and Benetton were the big ones and we went into about half a dozen smaller ones. It was totally useless though; Japanese fashion just doesn’t look right on foreigners. Low-cut shirts and such are coming in for Spring and they just look ridiculous on anyone who isn’t underweight and totally hairless. They really love their stripes too, and these silly old-man grey button-up cardigans. And lots of purple. I realised that I’m very very good at saying what I hate but not so good at picking things I actually like. We ended up just giving up and going to the Hilton for lunch.
